How PARTTEAM & OEMKIOSKS uses the IGUS system to implement a pager dispensing kiosk
Through the IGUS system, PARTTEAM & OEMKIOSKS developed a pager dispenser kiosk, which allows the pick-up of goods. Responding to the current needs of the industry and working in a simple, fast and effective way, this kiosk for logistics management allows truckers to register their entry as if it were a check-in, being notified on the pager when the load is ready.
This way, and through the IGUS system, i.e. the motor controller, the motor rotates in a predefined direction until it reaches a certain distance.
Since communication is done through a TCP protocol and the IP of the controller, a communication port is defined to which both the position of the platform and its speed are sent. When it receives this information, the controller rotates the motor in order to reach the desired position.
The Ethernet port, used to access the graphical user interface via a browser or to communicate via Modbus TCP, was the communication mode used in this particular project.
For this pager dispenser system, a stepper motor was thought of. After the software gives an indication, it makes an exact cycle of turns for the pager to be displayed from the top of the kiosk.
Since the total cycle is large, as a large number of pagers were required, there was a need to ensure that the alignment was completely perfect.
Besides, to minimize the probability of failure, a “funnel” shaped exit was built to route the pagers as they approach the exit.
One challenge found was the fact that the charger is part of the system. That is, this situation causes the transformer cable to have constant movements throughout the system cycle.
So, the IGUS articulated rail system was used to make the cables move safely without the risk of interlacing and tangling in the movements.
