Social Services of University of Coimbra optimize the attendance process of its food units

Always focusing on the continuous improvement of the services it provides to the Academic Community and following the global trend in the use of interactive digital solutions in the purchase of meals, the Social Services of University of Coimbra resorted to the services of PARTTEAM & OEMKIOSKS in order to automate the whole purchase process, from the loading of the UC card account to the availability of the acquired meals.


For this purpose, this project included the installation of 32” self-service kiosks (QSR) to buy meals and check menus, 32” self-service kiosks to buy meals, check menus and charge UC card accounts, and also 10” meal ticket validator systems.

The self-service kiosks designed for the food units of the Social Services of the University of Coimbra provide a new form of automated service, simplifying the process of purchasing meals and enabling the loading of UC card accounts and the payment of meals.


The validator systems allow the whole process to be completed, without human intervention, by checking the meal tickets purchased at the kiosks or in the SASUC GO! App, through a reader that checks the validity of the physical or digital ticket and provides an indication of the meal to be served.

Self-service kiosks are, thus, an asset to educational institutions, as they offer several benefits:

  • Reduced waiting lines;
  • Increased service efficiency;
  • Increased speed in the provision of meals.

The automation of this whole process (loading of UC card accounts and acquisition/validation of meal tickets) in the SASUC food units, using self-service kiosks, aims to make the management of these spaces more efficient, providing customers with greater comfort and speed of service.
