With the technological evolution and the changing habits of the population, connectivity is an increasingly important presence in our daily lives. Therefore, it is increasingly common to talk about digital transformation (DX), that is, the integration of digital technology in all areas of a business.
Fundamental to all sectors of activity, digital transformation translates into a cultural, organizational and operational change of an organization, industry or ecosystem through an intelligent integration of technologies, processes and digital skills at all levels and functions.
Transversal to the whole society, digital transformation aims to improve the management methods of an organization, adding value to products and services. Often known as Industry 4.0 or the fourth industrial revolution, digital transformation consists of the digitalization of most business activities. The goal is undoubtedly to improve customer satisfaction.
Based on new technologies, digital transformation (DX) implies building stronger relationships and a better understanding of customer needs.
Innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT) are becoming more and more accessible, so they are increasingly important to improve the customer experience, boost productivity and enable a competitive advantage.
PARTTEAM & OEMKIOSKS’ self-checkout systems with AI technology, for example, aim to increase revenues as well as streamline all purchasing processes. This innovative technology allows customers to scan products, pay and receive receipts quickly and without queues.
This way, a company or organization that manages to take advantage of the digital transformation ends up having competitive advantages, such as:
- More efficient use of resources;
- Reduction of errors;
- Quick response capacity.
Digital transformation process and LoRa network
Digital transformation (DX) covers, in general, the following elements:
- Replacement of isolated practices with integrated technology platforms that connect the entire company and organization. An example is PARTTEAM & OEMKIOSKS’ interactive platform, ClusterWall, which allows the creation, management and optimization of custom content. The main goal of this technological solution is to improve the internal communication of the companies through the adoption of new tools and the investment in means for a better communication between teams;
- Automated data analysis;
- Systems that allow the sharing of the work done among the employees of a company or organization, in order to boost responsibility and speed up processes.
In fact, the technological world in which we live is very focused on what we can call the Internet of Things (IoT), that is, a network of physical objects capable of gathering and transmitting data. However, for this ecosystem to work efficiently, it was necessary to develop new communication protocols. This is where LoRa (which means long range) comes in, a radio frequency technology that allows communication between devices over long distances.
PARTTEAM & OEMKIOSKS, always at the vanguard of technology, has already adhered to this system that allows devices to “communicate” with each other and with the Internet without having support for 3G/4G or Wi-Fi networks. This means that it is no longer necessary to have Internet in all equipment, because with LoRa technology, the sensors inside the multimedia kiosks or digital billboards connect directly to a LoRa gateway, which can even be 10 km away. This gateway connects to the Internet and consequently communicates data to THE BRAIN portal and other PARTTEAM & OEMKIOSKS or third-party software.
With LoRa network, it is not necessary, therefore, to have Internet in all kiosks and/or digital billboards, taking into account that this system allows an effective communication over long distances, with a minimum consumption of energy. As an example, if there are four billboards within a 10 km radius, it is only necessary to have a connection with a LoRa gateway, instead of providing Internet for the four equipments.
The Municipality of Loures, for example, already benefits from the LoRa network, specifically in the interactive digital billboard ZYTEC, designed by PARTTEAM & OEMKIOSKS.
The importance of digital transformation
The digitalization of society has driven the digital transformation that is felt today and which is increasingly undertaken by many companies and organizations.
Thus, technology drives change in business, so organizations that aim for success must combine technology with strategy.
Actually, the ultimate goal of digital transformation should always be the positive experience of the client. The customer’s experience can boost or weaken a business, hence the importance of technologies, which play an essential role in the positive relationship between companies and their customers.
The benefits of digital transformation
Besides preparing companies and organizations for all kinds of challenges, the digital transformation (DX) brings several advantages:
1 – Improvement in the customer experience
The technological advance has been increasing the interactions between companies and customers. The customers are, thus, able to achieve what they want, when they want and how they want it.
Consequently, companies are able to provide a more satisfactory and consistent experience in meeting customer needs.
This way, improving the customer experience is one of the great purposes of digital transformation.
2 – Efficiency
Intelligent technology and connected systems are the basis for business efficiency.
In fact, one of the benefits that stands out in the digital transformation is the efficiency in all areas and processes.
3 – Increased productivity
With the automation of many manual tasks, and through the right technological tools, it is possible to improve productivity. That is, the whole company/organization can work more efficiently.
4 – Collaboration between departments
The basis for a digital transformation is built through digital convergence. When all departments are aligned, it is possible to create a corporate culture.
5 – Return on Investment
With the right strategy, it is possible to obtain Return on Investment (ROI).
Many companies avoid digital updates because they think there is no Return on Investment. But this is wrong thinking. This is because the main goal of digital transformation is to improve the customer experience, which translates into increased revenue.
6 – Consolidated operations
Digital transformation includes agile digital systems, which allow the automation of tasks, as new digital systems are implemented.
This consolidation of the company’s processes and operations allows it to connect with the target audience and satisfy their needs.
7 – Cost reduction
The simplification of operational processes reduces costs, as it takes less time to perform the same tasks and provides timely and thorough data for decision making.
The future of digital transformation
Digital transformation (DX) is changing the way people work, how people live and have fun. In addition, technological innovations continue to provide opportunities for companies to create value for their customers.
So, implementing a digital transformation is fundamental to the success of any business and any activity.
As technology is an instrument for opening institutions to the world – since it enables the formation of increasingly connected citizens – PARTTEAM & OEMKIOSKS continues to develop technological solutions for all sectors of activity.
