The importance of understanding the different types of sockets/plugs and voltages
Voltage, or tension is the difference in potential, measured in volts between the ends of a conductor. Most electronic equipment can be classified according to the voltage at which they operate, a voltage that must be almost exactly matched by the equipment's power supply for proper operation.
Therefore, adaptors are needed, so that components are not damaged due to the incompatibility of the voltage of the equipment in relation to the socket. In terms of safety, the lower the voltage, the lower the risk of injury when coming into physical contact with an unprotected live wire.

Different countries have different voltages and electrical sockets. Each country started to develop what they thought was the best way to provide safe and customised electricity according to their standards.
This has resulted in different countries now having different plugs and sockets. Therefore, some of the devices we have may not work in some countries if the voltage, plugs and sockets are not compatible.

Voltages and sockets in different corners of the world
The United States of America developed the power supply system, which was not considered a standard for other countries. In many countries the US standards (60Hz, 120V and type B and type A sockets) are not considered as efficient for power supply.
Type D and Type I sockets are the sockets used in Asia and Australia. In Australia they usually operate with a voltage of 230V and 50Hz, while in Asia, with a high voltage (220 to 230V), except in Japan, whose current intensity is equivalent to 100V.
In Europe, the predominant are 230V, 50Hz Type C sockets, however many other European countries opt for other sockets, such as Germany (Type F), Italy (Type L), UK (Type G), among many other countries.
In countries where the socket does not fit the plug of some equipment, an adapter is a quick and easy solution.
